An 1880s silver camp whose two finest survivors — Fraternity Hall and Gillian Hall — form Montana's smallest state park, preserved in place on the town's main street. The rest of Elkhorn is privately owned with a handful of year-round residents, so wander the street and the halls but respect posted properties; the hilltop cemetery's 1889 diphtheria graves are a sobering walk. Access is about 11 miles of decent gravel road south of Boulder, generally passable by passenger car in summer.
