Govan was a small wheat-shipping stop on the Central Washington Railway, remembered mostly for its photogenic 1905 two-story schoolhouse and an unsolved 1902 axe murder of a local judge and his wife. The weathered, now-roofless school still leans beside US-2 between Wilbur and Almira, alongside a grain elevator and scattered foundations. It is a look-from-the-road site: the buildings sit on private farmland and the school is dangerously unstable, so shoot from the shoulder rather than crossing the fence.
