A Cold War uranium boomtown that hit ~4,500 people in the late 1970s, then lost 95% of its population within three years of the 1980s uranium crash. It is not fully abandoned — a few dozen residents, a bar, and a pottery studio hang on along WY-789/287 — but the shuttered school, apartment blocks, and tract housing make an eerie drive-through. View the abandoned buildings from public roads; most are privately owned, structurally rough, and posted.
