An 1893 wooden compressor house perched above the Crystal River, one of Colorado's most photographed ruins. Reached only in summer via the rough 4x4 shelf road from Marble (or a long hike/UTV tour); the structure sits on private property and the owners closed the walk-down trail to the mill's base in 2023 after repeated vandalism, so viewing is now from the county road. Hazards are the exposed shelf road and swift river rather than the building itself — do not cross posted closures.
