A cluster of wooden houses perched on pilings a mile offshore in Biscayne Bay, Stiltsville dates to the 1930s bootleg-and-gambling era; hurricanes and a 2021 fire have whittled it to six surviving structures now owned by Biscayne National Park and maintained with the Stiltsville Trust. Viewing from the water is legal and popular by boat or kayak, but entering the houses requires park/trust permission. Risks are boating-related — shallow flats, weather, and no dry land anywhere nearby.
