Albert Kahn's 1910 factory is where Ford perfected the moving assembly line and the $5 day — arguably the most historically significant industrial building in America, and a National Historic Landmark. Ford left in the 1950s; today the administration buildings are held by preservation interests while much of the complex is privately used for storage, and 2025 reporting indicated large-scale preservation is stalled. The site is sealed, alarmed in places, and partially occupied, so interior access is effectively off the table; view the historical marker and facades from Woodward Avenue. Deteriorating sections carry typical asbestos and falling-material risks.
