A copper camp of the 1908-1924 era deep in the Buckskin Mountains, abandoned when smelting economics collapsed; adobe worker cottages, the railroad depot ruins, and mine works survive. The BLM manages it as an interpreted historic townsite with shade ramadas and a walking loop, but getting there means roughly 25 miles of graded desert dirt road (high clearance recommended, occasional washouts) with zero services or cell coverage. Open shafts dot the surrounding hills and summer heat is genuinely dangerous — visit October through April and stay on marked paths.
